History

Barnstorm produces and promotes high standard, professional theatre for children and young people; and provides the widest possible access to this work by touring to theatres and arts centres throughout the country.

In order to keep abreast of developments in Children’s Theatre, Barnstorm has forged and developed links with similar companies in other countries and with International Festivals of Children and Young People’s Theatre. In 2005 the company was invited to represent Ireland at the EU International Japanese Children’s Festival with an example of its work for young children.

Barnstorm is a member of ASSITEJ Ireland (International Association of Children & Young People’s Theatre) an association of those working in the area of Theatre for Young Audiences in Ireland.

While Barnstorm produces and tours its work on a national basis, it is also rooted in, and committed to serving, its local community. At a local level Barnstorm provides a wide-range of participative and interactive theatre/ drama projects within its local community. See Outreach
